Just crazy enough. Just cozy enough. Just right. In this new sitcom from Susan (The Golden Girls) Harris, Richard (Soap) Mulligan plays a widowed Miami pediatrician surrounded by a wonderful ensemble. Dinah Manoff plays his neurotic, divorced daughter. “Dating?” she says. “I love it. I get to do an impersonation of a perfect person. I get to act much nicer than I really am and be fascinated at how their therapy is going now that they’re finally able to cry and to throw my head back in laughter at their wit as I eat my blackened redfish.” A perfect call. Kristy (Family) McNichol is his sensible daughter, a cop. David (Joe Isuzu) Leisure is his lewd and lascivious next-door neighbor. Park Overall, a TV version of Holly Hunter, is his wry Arkansas nurse: “In mah town, we didn’t have datin’. You warshed your hair every Saturday naht and then when you were 14 you married your cousin.” He has Dreyfuss, a magnificent dog. And he has The Golden Girls as neighbors. What a great bunch. What a good show. Finally, here is reason to rejoice in the coming of the new season.
